Executive Summary
Yukatrack is a high-performance fleet management and asset tracking platform. My role as an Architect involved designing a real-time telemetry system capable of handling high-frequency location data from diverse IoT devices.
The Challenge
Fleet operators required sub-second latency for live vehicle tracking and highly accurate “geofencing” to ensure asset security. Processing thousands of concurrent streams of GPS data while maintaining a responsive user interface presented a significant architectural hurdle.
Technical Architecture
The solution centered on a robust IoT Data Ingestion Pipeline.
- Real-time Telemetry: Implemented a streaming architecture to process incoming GPS coordinates and broadcast them to React-based dashboards with minimal delay.
- Virtual Geofencing: Developed a spatial indexing system (GIS) to provide instant alerts when assets crossed predefined boundaries.
- Mobile First Ecosystem: Designed the API with a mobile-first philosophy, ensuring that drivers and managers have total control over their fleet from any device of their choice.
Business Impact
Yukatrack transformed fleet operations from reactive responding to proactive management. The platform enabled operators to optimize routes, reduce fuel consumption, and significantly improve recovery times for stolen assets via the Live Tracking and Alarm Notification modules.
